iPhone Development with Monotouch

We have a large number of customers who have chosen the .NET platform for their web or desktop applications for good reason. .NET is a robust, scalable and flexible platform that is used to build large scale applications for the enterprise. With the current and future use of mobile devices as a heavy method most users either do interact or want to interact with your application it is important that you have a mobile strategy for your organization.  See our post “Mobile Strategy (do you have one?)” by clicking here.

The iPhone is the smartphone leader in mindshare and the amount of money spent on applications. This lead in money spent on applications is expected to grow over the next several years. Objective-C is the native language for iPhone development.  This means that organizations who have committed to the .NET platform would need a heavy investment in order to port the functions of their existing solution to the iPhone.  In some instances this is cost or time prohibitive and the company’s development team either internal or external is probably not as comfortable with the technologies used to port the application to the iPhone.

Enter Monotouch.

MonoTouch allows developers to create C# and .NET based applications that run on Apple’s iPhone and Apple’s iPod Touch devices, while taking advantage of the iPhone APIs and reusing both code and libraries that have been built for .NET, as well as existing skills.

We have been working in this framework and it overcomes the aforementioned problems by reducing the cost for our clients to achieve a full-featured iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad application by leveraging some of the applications existing codebase and providing a tight nit interface with both the .NET and Apple iPhone platforms.

For developers we encourage you to take a look at this platform if any of the reasons above are barriers you face to providing your customers with the much needed iPhone/iPad app that they need.

For our current or prospective clients contact us so we can show you how you can leverage your existing application and provide a new revenue stream for your organization and a much desired service for your customer base.
